TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME.

GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED.

THE WINTER STEEPLECHASE.

REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS

The Auckland Racine: Club's Winter Meeting will be concluded at Ellerslie today, when the chief events will he the Winter Steeplechase and the York Handicap For a final day the fields are en tireJy satisfactory, and the racing should again prove very interesting. The miniimim in the flat events, which was 7.0 on the first two days, has been raised to 9.0, and this may mnkc a difference to some horses, although the chances are that form might work out fairly well. The following are the details of the fields with a review of the prospects in each race by "Archer":— 11.30 —TAMAKI STEEPLECHASE, Of X'3oo; about 2J miles. st. lb st. lb. Dark Prince -11 0 Quinsilia ... 10 1 Pangolin ... 10 3 Jin Jazz ... 0 4 Paris 10 2 Senora .... !> 0 Dark Prince, who won.so well in similar company on the first day, seemed none the worse for his fall in the Grent Northern Steeplechase when seen yesterday, and should have excellent prospects if started. However, he is also in the Winter Steeplechase, and might possibly be reserved for that race. Pangolin fell when expected to race well on the first day, and should have his chance here. Senora is a fairly reliable jumper, but nono of the others can bo recommended, although Quinsilia might be a possibility. The favourites may be DARK PRINCE. PANGOLIN.

Cristobel has won twice at the meeting and should again nice prominently although at the difference in weights she might find it difficult to beat Landmark, who is on the improve. Monetize, Archeen and Cool Mint are newcomers who may run good races, and the best of the others ,may bo Spalpiko, Owairaka and Nassock. The main fancies may include • ' LANDMARK, CRISTOBEL, ARCHEEN.

Seatown and Havering are first-class under winter conditions, and, though they have big weights, may Lave to be seriously reckoned with. Eaglet might not be entirely suited by the conditions, but Taneriri and Inevitable should again run good races. Standfast is anotner with a good chance and other possibilities are True Blood. High Pitch, Valroc, Lucy Rose and British King. It should be a great betting race, and investors may show a preference for INEVITABLE. SEATOWA, ,

Oil form, Lucess, Master Lit, Wnko King, Dark Prince and Copey should nil have good chances, and tho shorter distance might be in favour of Lucess, who should bo very difficult to beat if he saddles up well after his two hard races. Dark Prince seems certain to go well with his light-weight if started, and Star Comet, who fell when going well in the Great Northern Steeplechase, must liavo an undoubted chance. Spalpiko and Matu are sound fencers with good jumpers' chances, and the likeliest of the others 'may be Olaremore and Fendavies. Thcro may be solid support for • • • LUCESS. .MASTER LU. STAB COMET. 2.<IO—CAMPBELL HURDLES, Of £450; 2 ni'les. pi. lb. st. lb. Make t*p . .11 i> Nucleus ... 10 0 Prim e Lu . . JO 10 Apache .... 0 3 Nukumai ... 10 5 Easterly ... 0 0 Antrim Boy . 10 5 Unoco .... 0 0 form on the second (iay suggests good chances for Mako Up and Nucleus, and they should again run solid races. Prince Lu may have stood his racing better than some of the others, and should be assisted by his iumping and condition. Nukumai must have on undoubted chance if he saddles up well after his full on Saturday, while Apache will only require to jump well to be very difficult to beat. Antrim Boy has not yet started at the meeting, but ho lias been working well and must be conceded a good chance. Horses who may find favour aro NUKUMAI, APACHE. PRINCE LU, 3.2S—VISITORS' HANDICAP, Of £150; 0 fur. ft. lb; Havering . ; 12 0 Prince Vnl . . 9 3 Cold Money It 4 King Ford ..Hi! Refresher . . Awaken has run two good races nt tho meeting and should have a chanco here. There is some good material amonu the light-weights, and UIOSO who may be capable of the best efforts are Gay Lap, King Ford, Princo Vnl and Tctrarchate. It is an open race, but horses who may be well supported aro GAY LAP. KING" FORD. PRINCE VAL.

Duncan in the aaddlo. ho is likely to tuko considerable beating. His chief danger might come from To Hoia, who will be ridden by Mr. M Tims, and Catoma, whoso pilot will bo Mr. 11. Dodds. Others who may run good races also aro Jalldy Karo, who will bo ridden by Mr. Jv Morris, and Littlo Doubt The prime fancies may be VANDYKE. TE HOIA, CATOMA.
