TANERIRI'S SUCCESS.

A GREAT FINISHING RUN.

INEVITABLE JUST BEATEN.

INQUIRY INTO INTERFERENCE

Tlio King Georgo Handicap produced a great Sniah and necks only separated the placed horses while tho next four were very close. Speculation on the race was brisk and Gold Money was the actual favourite, with the Mnmiwhenua-Taneriri bracket and Havering also heavily backed.

Eager Rose was not straight 011 when the tapes were released and received all the woHt of llie start. Refresher and Lady's Boy wero quick to begin and they were the leaders at the end of a furlong from Manawhenua, Puriri Park. Inevitable. British King and Havering. A little further 011 Maiuiwhenua and Puriri Park went to tho front and they were tho pacemakers through the cutting from Refiesher, Inevitable. British King, Lady's Boy. Gold Money. Lucy Itose, Llandudno and Havering. Manawhenua, Puriri Park and Lady's Boy camo into the straight almost abreast, With Kefresher, Inevitable, Gold Money and British King next, and the others bunching. Tho field was spread across the; course at tho distance, where Manawhenua, Puriri Park, Refresher, Inevitable nnd Gold Money were all struggling hard for_ supremacy. Inevitable was doing best inside the distance but Taneriri then flashed up 011 the outsido with a brilliant run to score by a neck from Inevitable. Refresher was another neck away third and*'T/ady's Boy was fourth. Then in close order followed Awaken, Manawhenua, Puriri Park, Gold Money, Havering and Llandudno. Taneriri was not sighted until the last furlong, when he came with an irresistible rush on the outside. Just near the post he was checked slightly when ho touched Inevitable, but once straightened again he commenced to go away. Inevitable was always well placed and battled on solidly to (he end. Refresher ran one of his' best races and Lady's Boy also ran a sound race. Manawhenua and Puriri Park were bustled from outside post nositions to reach the lead early and just faded near tho end. Gold Money ran another creditable race and Havering was running 011 at the eild. Havei ing may do better next time. Valroe lost his rider before going a furlong. All inquiry was held after the race .concerning some interference with Inevitable by Refresher. The judicial committee, after hearing evidence, decided to- take no action other than to caution K. S. Bugby. the rider of Refresher. .LORD VAL AND PEWA. FITZROY HANDICAP DEAD-HEAT. A thrilling finish in the Fitzroy Handicap saw Lord Val. 011 tho rails, and Pewa, 011 the outsido, run a dead-heat for first, with Catoma and Little Doubt almost in line. Little Doubt was made a red-hot favourite in the biggest betting raco of the day, being over twice as well backed ns Catoma, with Grand Talk and Lord Val also well backed. A good start saw Lord Val run to tho front smartly to lead along the back from Te Money, Good Idea, Little Doubt, Catoma. Trustee, Indolent and Grand Talk. Lord Val curried 011 (he running through the cutting from Good Idea, Pewa, Te Money. Little Doubt. Valmarie and Catoma. Lord Val.was still in charge entering the straight from Good idea and Pewa. with Little Doubt and Catoma showing up on the outside. Once they straightened up Catoma ran to tho leaders quickly, and at the distance Pewa and Little Doubt came 011 the outside. When they crossed the line the judge was unable to separate Pewa and Lord Val, who were a head in front of Catoma. Little Doubt was another head away fourth, with Grand Talk fifth. The next to finish were Alloy and Wild Country. Lord Val and Pewa wero always well in the picture and both hung on well nt tho finish, where Pewa was doing best. Pewa's effort was considerobly better than his per formance 011 the first dny, when he was ' never prominent. Catoma, on whom R. S. Bagby was substituted for H. N. Wiggins, showed more dash than in his previous races at the meeting and only for being back slightly at the> five furlongs post might have won.. Little Doubt came home well 011 the outside and was doing as well as anything right on the post. CRISTOBEL WINS AGAIN. LANDMARK IN SECOND PLACE. Cristobel and Landmark were the favourites for the Panmure Hurdles and they realised expectations by filling the dividend places. The' first and second horses were the only ones with chances in the last halfmile and the others all cut up badly, most ! of them jumping ill slovenly fashion and being well beaten a long way from home. C'ristobel led over the first fence and she was the leader past the stands from Marble King, with 11. gap of eight lengths to Landmark. who was followed by Desert Glow, L with Justify and Nassock next. Desert Glow fell at tho fence in front of the members' stand and when the back was reached Cristobel had a good lead on Marble King and Landmark. From this on the rnce was practically a procession and Cristobel ivon fairly comfortably by two lengths from Landmark. Nnssock was ten lengths away third, and Kairuri was an indifferent fourth. Then came Loving Cup and Marble King. Cristobel confirmed trie good form she displayed on tho first day and gave the others little chance by felling a fast pace and jumping with great dash. Landmark made a game effort to catch the winner at the finish but was not quite good enough. However, his turn should come very soon. Nnssock's display was promising and a little experience will help him greatly. Patutahi jumped badly and was pulled up, as was Justify. Sir Russell fell at the second fence when racing in second position. OUTSIDERS PAY DIVIDENDS. KING FORD AND FULL MEASURE. Two outsiders. King Ford and Full Measure, filled the dividend places in the Ranfurly Handicap and both returned double figures. It was a fairly good betting nice and the favourites were the Gay LapVafstr'cet bracket, Catoma and Tanrua. King Ford was quickest to begin from British Princess, Full Measure and Val- j street and when they raced through the cutting King Ford was making play from Valstreet. Full Measure, Guy Lap, Brbnzo Tray and Emancipation. King Ford was still in charge entering the straight, with Full Measure, Clay Lap, Emancipation and i Vulstreet in close attendance. Full Measure just headed King Ford inside the distance, but King Ford was doing it well and camo | again to beat him comfortably by three 1 parts of a length. Gay Lap was two and a-half lengths away third and F/imineipiition was fourth. Then foiiowed Bronze Tray, Catoma and Taurua.

King Ford run a sound race on I lie first day when in- drew mi oul.sidc post position nnd paid n fine price considering that his latest form lias been consistently pood. Oil this occasion he secured tlie rails quickly and won handsomely. King Ford luis won three times in his Inst four stiirls. Full Measure stayed on better than usually and is improving with every , race, G#Jr Lii;p nuule fine showing under his big weight and Emancipation also shaped well again. Tannic nn-1 Calonia were both badly placed early and never looked dangerous, although Catonia was running 011 in sixth position at the end.
