TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
GARNET ROAD ROUTE. OPENING FOR TRAFFIC. Tho Garnet Road tramway extension, Grey Lynn, was opened for traffic yesterday. The Avondale extension is now the only one under the Transport Board's programme of tramway extension works yet to bo completed. This line will be opened in about three months.
Tramcars on tho Garnet Road extension bear the designation Westmere and will run every 27 minutes. An 18-minute service will be run to the Zoo. Ihe Garnet Road-West End Road bus feeder service has been discontinued, except for certain school trips, which will be continued for a trial period. The Zoo-Grey Lynn and Heme Bay through service has been discontinued and Westmere, Zoo and Grey Lynn trams will leave from Lower Queen Street and travel via tho Town Hall. Heme Bay trams will now run through to Mount Eden and Three Kings, via Wellcsley Street East.
