improvements at howick. Improvements niado to several reserves in tho district and the planting of many trees were recorded at the annual meeting of the Howick Beautifying Society on Friday evening. The president, Mr. W. Green, presided. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £6 18s. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. W. Green; vicepresidents, same as last year, with the addition of Archdeacon H. A. Hawkins; committee, Mesdames Mason and Amiss, Misses Nixon, Rathbono and Wann and Messrs. Litten, Church, Bagnall and Tovey; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Motion.
