LOST IN THE BUSH.

DEER STALKER'S ADVENTURE

SUCCESSFUL SEARCH MADE. [FROM OUR OWN' CORRESPONDENT. ] ItOTOItUA, Saturday. After being lost for nearly two days in the bush near To Wliaiti, a young man, Mr. George Ward, of Tc Whp.iti, who went deer stalking on Wednesday, was found yesterday. He was in a somewhat exhausted condition owing to exposure. The young man set out alone on Wednesday • afternoon, expecting to return that night, and ho took no food with him. When lie did not return by Thursday anxiety was felt for his safety, and search parties wero hastily organised and despatched. Traces of the missing man's movements were found, bur, lie was not located. The police organised a search from the Galatea side of To Whaiti and combed the bush yesterday. Wednesday night was a cold night and rain fell about midnight. Very heavy rain fell on Thursday. Early yesterday morning the wind veered to the south and a bitterly cold rain storm blew up. 'lhe Te Wliaiti parties worked under the direction of Constable MacPherson, and the police sent parties into the bush from the Galatea side.

Eventually Mr. Ward was found near the place where traces of him were seen in the earlier stages of the search. The country is covered with very heavy bush in this locality.
