RACING DESCRIBED.

MARGARET WALLACE'S WIN.

LADY YVONNE STARTS TWICE. VICTORY IN LAST EVENT. There was big surprise in the Introductory Handicap, Margaret Wallace, who was omitted from the original list of acceptors, winning nicely at the finish, to pay a dividend bordering on a quarter-of-a-century. Cogent went away, to lead for a mile, with Margaret Wallace in close attendance, followed by Arabond, Minties and Great Fame, well clear of the others. Great Fame made a fast run into the straight to assume command, but G. Phipps brought Margaret Wallace 011 the rails and, outstaying Great Fame, the maro won by a length. Minties was three lengths away third, followed by Oliver Thorpe and the favourite, Arabond. Lady Linda and Thelma Mack did not go away.

Bessie Danish, a good second choice for the Leamington Trot, galloped off the mark to lose a lot of ground, while Bingen Bell and Wild Downs went away with a good lead. With half the journey covered Bessie Parrisli made a fine effort and caught the leaders, but broke badly again and dropped back. Win Huon then took command from Wild Downs and Bingen Bell, with Bessie Parrisli and Black Magic moving along fast. Win Huon left his feet in the run home, and Black Magic got to the front, with Bessie Parrisli in hot pursuit. Bessie Parrish responded gamely under pressure and, trotting faultlessly to tho post, won by a short neck from Black Magic. Win Huon was four lengths away third, followed by Wild Downs, Golden Huia and Joy Ride. The favourite, Carl Mack, was well back. Dividend in Saddle Race.

The public was well astray irj tho President' 3 Saddle Handicap, when the chief fancies, Our Peter, Marionette and Lady Author failed to go away correctly. Nathaniel began beet, and at the end of a furlong was eight lengths in front of Gaza and High Sea. The last-named supplanted Gaza approaching the straight, where Nathaniel was still well clear. High Sea, vigorously ridden by W. 11. Oliver, challenged the leader in the run home, and, finishing better than Nathaniel, won by half a length. Gaza was three lengths away third, succeeded by Lacty Author, Our Peter and Inverness. Marionel to was pulled up after going half a mile. High Sea paid a double-figure dividend. First Flight, favourite for the Cambridge Cup, had every chance, but was not good enough when the back;-marker, Gold Treasure, made his final dash. He was splendidly driven by A. J. Julian, and fairly outstayed his rivals. It was a spectacular race, and there were many changes of leadership. All -went away correctly. First Flight showing the way to Dan Direct. At the end of half a mile Richoro dashed to the front and led past the stands from Dealer, First Flight, Wakefield, Nella Dillon and Gold Treasure, wlio had made up his ground quickly. "Wakefield led the favourite along the back, but tho latter was first into the straight from Gold Treasure, Nella Dillon, Wakefield and Peter Pirate. Gold Treasure finished best to defeat First Flight by threeparts of a length, with Peter Pirate, whose sulky wheel was damaged, two and a-half lengths away third. Then came Nella Dillon, Wakefield, Dan Direct and Brutus. Hautapu Handicap Mishap.

A mishap in the middle stages of the Hautapu Handicap robbed the race of a good deal of interest. As the field raced along the back there was a regulr mix-up, Oliver Thorpe, Chrystal, Tiny Pose, Lady Linda and Eleawah coming to grief, while several others had their chances extinguished. Conder Bell began smartly and led past the stand from Jackie Thorpe, Cogent and Thelma Mack, but Jackie Thorpe was soon in front and was well clear of the favourite, Poi, along the back, with Conder Bell and Cogent together following. There was no alteration at the home turn, vhere Prince Lochinvar began to put in a forward move. Poi challenged Jackie Thorpe, but could make no impression, and he won by just over a length. Prince Lochinvar was a length away third, followed by Conder Bell, Margaret Wallace and Great Fame. The winner was third favourite, but in the first race carried very little money. Great Vanity did not leave the mark.

Mr. A. E. Commons, stipendiary steward, stated after the race that the accident was caused through Tiny Rose falling and bringing down Chrystal and Oliver Thorpe, wliilo Lady Linda and Eleawah were stopped by tho smash. He also stated that Jackie Thorpe in the first race pulled off two shoes.

Cail Mack, a good favourite for llio Bardowie Trot, after leading for a circuit, broke up badly, and, although he made a good effort along the back, failed to trot steadily and left his feet again, to finish in fourth place. At tho end of a milo Black Magic was showing the way to Pinoro, and crossing tho top Pinoro went to tho front, while Gold Star improved his position. Pinoro was first into the straight, and, stalling off a good challenge by Gold Star, won by half a length, with Black Magic, who broke, three and a-half lengths away third. Carl Mack and Direct Action were next. Parrish Belle trotted well for a mile and a-half, but failed to finish on. Success of Impromptu. Having his first drive in a race, C. Moran brought Impromptu home well in the Stewards' Handicap, to cause the downfall of a warm favourite, June Nordica. After Judy Thorpe had piloted the field for six furlongs June Nordica ran to the lead and was well clear along the back from Nathaniel and Judy Thorpe, with Impromptu making up ground. June Nordica turned for homo in advance of Nathaniel and Impromptu, but tho •last-named finished fulf of running to beat tho favourite by half a length in a solid finish. Four lengths back Lady Yvonne and Moko Chief finished 011 terms in third place, the former with a fast run just getting up ot the post. Then followed Prince Pedro, who went a patchy race, and Jersey Thorpe

Lady Yvonne came out again for the last race, the Farewell Handicap, and. well driven by G. T. Mitchell, got up at the finish to score a narrow victory. Marionette led for a milo when Little Guy, the favourite, took charge and led into the straight from Marionette and High Sea. High Sea challenged Little Guy, and just had his measure when Lady Yvonne flashed up on tho outside to win by half a length from High Sea. with Little Guy a head away third. Lady Author was fourth, followed by Some Dillon and Inverness.
