PARKS ORGANISATION.

COX'S CREEK SCHEME,

Changes in the organisation of the parks department staff were reported to tiie City Council last evening by the superintendent of parks, Mr. T. S. Aid ridge, who staled that Mr. G. Fillmoro, foreman at Albert Park, had been given charge of the Domain. Ho would recommend that Mr. Fillmore bo given the title of assistant superintendent. Mr. Aldridge expressed the opinion that, a resident officer should V>e' quartered in the Domain gardens, and ho considered that a house and office should be erected thero for himself. Tha report was adopted. . After full consideration of a report by the city engincpr upon the sc|icme to develop 6'ox's Creek as a boat harbour and recreation reserve, put TBfward by h Grey Lynn deputation last' year, the Town-planning Committee stated, tlmt tho scheme was not financially possible at the present Unit. The engineer's estimates for, the various sections of ihe scheme were £36,410, £45.000 and £2270. making a total of £83.680. ' On tha recommendation «f the Town planning Committee, it was decided not tji grant an application to erect a block of five shops, with dwelling arcommodntion, corner of Uemueya and Orakoi Roads. The committed hold that the sjte was in a residential area.

An application bv- the St.. Ileliers Bowling Club to have a new green laid down on the recreation reserve, the club to pay interest on tho capital cost, - was not favourably recommended by the Parks Couimittee, which submitted a report tlint to do so would encroach on the ground available for other sports, but the committee would do its* to bring the present green' up to ft. proper standard. The report was adopted.
