LEAGUE CODE CONTROL.
PROPOSED ALTERATIONS.
PAYMENT TO WINNING TEAMS. It is expected that soma drastic changes will be suggested at a meeting of the Auckland Rugby League to be held this evening, when the special committee's report on the future control of the game will bo discussed. Among other recommendations is the payment of 121, per cent, of the net gatetakings at each match to the winning teams. The payment, it is understood, will be made to clubs for the future organisation of their senior teams, and will not be given to individual players. In the senior grade, clubs will divide 20 per cent, of the gate-takings and the privileges to vice-presidents will no longer bo given. It is believed that strong opposition is to be expected from clubs which in the past have depended upon vicepresidents to finance the season's operations.
The committee, which at present comprises 20 delegates, is to he reduced to seven. Affiliated clubs will have only two votes on the management committee. This means that the chairman, the secretary, the treasurer, the chairman of the Junior Management Committee, and the referees' delegate will in future control the code in Auckland.
The official handbook of the league has undergone many alterations, and it will be interesting to see what attitude the management will take this evening toward the proposals.
