CANADIAN IMPORTS.
Sir—l read with great interest your sub-leader on trade with Canada and the request- by the An ;kland Chamber of Commerce for information regarding the prospects of the tcriff agreement with Canada. When tin Canadian Government increased the tariff on New Zealand butter the New Zealand Government ■imposed an increased duty on Canadian motor-cars coming into this country, obviously for the pu -posc of negotiations. These negotiations do not seem likely to eventuate. By imposing this extra duty Canada virtually shut out our only export to them, but tie extra duty on Canadian motor-cars affects only one section of Canada's exports to New Zealand. Is it not time that all Canadian exports to New Zealand should carry an additional duty similar to that imposed on motorcars? New Zealand Farmer.
