AMERICAN UNEMPLOYED.
INCREASE IN NUMBERS. TOTAL MORE THAN 4,000,000. WASHINGTON, Jan. 7. The chairman of the President's Committee on Employment, Mr. 1\ Woods, estimated before the. appropriations committee of the Senate to-day that there were between 4,000,000 and 5,000.000 unemployed persons in tho United States. Unemployment was increasing, ho said, and ho did not believe tho situation would improve until the spring.
