FATALITY ON STEAMER.

ENGINEER DIES OF SCALDS. BURSTING OF STEAM PIPE. (Received January 1, 5.5 p.m.) HOBART, Jan. 1.. The steamer Cabarita, which broke down at the entrance to Bass Strait owing to a boiler mishap, has reached Hobart. An engineer died from scalds caused by the bursting of a steam pipe. The Cabarita, a vessel of 4364 tons, is owned by the Austral-China Navigation Company, Limited, and registered at Hongkong. She left Nauru Island on December 1 tvith phosphate for Australian ports.
