WHEAT IN AUSTRALIA.
A DEPLORABLE POSITION. BUYEIRS NOT OPERATING. SYDNEY, Dec. 31. The deplorable plight of the wheatgrowers in exemplified by the latest announcement, that merchants have ceased operating. Practically no shipments are being arranged, and tho silo facilities are wholly incapable of holding the wheat now being harvested, because 1,000,000 bushels of last season's wheat is still on hand at the terminal elevator. Furthermore, the farmers have not the ready cash to buy bags. It is officially stated that wheat is practically unsaleArgentina grain is being offered in London at 2s 6d a bushel, and Australian at 3s 03 d. j
