EMPIRE DEVELOPMENT.
AID TO BRITISH INDUSTRY
JOINT BOARD SUGGESTED
LONDON, Dec. 29. Sir Robert Hadfield, the Sheffield steel magnate, commenting on the deplorable position of industry in Britain, is of the opinion that the solution lies in the establishment of an Empire Development Board, on which should sit men of good will from all parties, and over which General Smuts, of South Africa, should preside.
Sir Robert added: "General Smuts is the man to help the Empire at a critical juncture, to bring us together with the singlo aim and purpose of developing the Empire for the good of all."
