ITALY AND ARMAMENTS.
MUSSOLINI'S STATEMENT.
WILL HALT IF OTHERS DO. WARNING TO THE NATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received November 18, 10.45 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 18. In tlio course of an article published in the Daily Express the Prime Minister of Italy, Signor Mussolini, says:— " Thcrt is no Government in Europe that is not cognisant of the warlike efforts of its neighbours. Yet they talk of peace. Wo are ready to call a halt in armaments the moment others will do the same.
"We regard a general reduction of armaments as essential to fair play, but when the whole of Europe is arming each nation must look to its own defence.
" Woe to the country which would violate our national honour and embroil us in a conflict for thp preservation of our national unity. If a conflict must be, then we arc determined not to emerge from it defeated.
