A LUCKY TICKET.
PRIZE OF £6OOO WON.
SYNDICATE AT HENDERSON
Five residents of the Massey district, five miles from Henderson, and a Taranaki friend are to divide £6OOO as a result of forming a syndicate to buy a ticket in an overseas consultation, and drawing Second Wind, which was second in the Melbourne Cup.
Mrs. G. W. Sinton and Mr. Jack Meynall, of Henderson, have five-shilling shares in the ticket, while Miss Ada Sinton. Mrs. Sandford and Mr. R. Smith, nil of Henderson, and Miss Myrtle Whalen, of Kapuni, Taranaki, have half-a-crown shares.
It was Mrs. Sinton who Suggested to her friends that thev should take a ticket in the Melbourne Cup. Information that the syndicate had drawn Second Wind was received about a fortnight before the race. The family listened over the wireless to the description of the race, and there was great excitement when the result was announced.
