GIRL FROM ARMENTIERES. Memories of tho war and of one of tho most famous of army songs —" Mademoiselle from Arinentieros are recalled by tho mysterious death of Mile. Laure Millanquet at La Chapellc d'Armcntiercs. Sho was aged 44 years. In 1914 and 1915 sho was a beautiful young woman, tho centre of attraction in the littlo billeting village behind the British lines whore sho had taken refuge. Mile. Millanquet had lived alone since tho war, and it was whispered locally that she was mourning for some young lover who had been killed. Certainly she refused many offers of marriago and rarely left her solitary house. When the woman was found dead it was thought that sho had committed suicide. Folico investigations, have led them to doubt this theory, and a search is being made for a man who, it is said, was seen to leave her house tho night bofoio her death was discovered.
