[by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] v CHRISTCEURCH, Friday. Weather conditions were ideal for training operations nt Addinglon to-day and the track was in good order for fast times. Interest was added to tho proceedings by a number of horses trained away from headquarters. The fastest work-out was registered by the Sockburn-trained horses Logan Chief, Talaro, Daphne De Oro and Travis Axworthy, the last-named conceding the others starts up to 30yds. Logan Chief made practically all the pare. Travis Axworthy was in the rear until three furlongs from home, when he commenced o good run and collared Logan Chief a hundred j'ards from the post, coming home a decisive winner. Tho American stallion put a lot of dash into his work and it was his most pleasing effort to date. The fqll journey wwat3 t covered in 3.15 2-5, the last half-mile taking 1.3 2-5. Travis Axworthy pulled up well and his work was in striking contrast with his effort a couple of days ago. Logan Chief hung ou gamely, but Talnro and Daphne De Oro did not show cup form at any stage of the journey. Padlock has arrived at Addington. He loo.ks well. His only engagement at the meeting is in the New Zealiiid Cup. Raima arrived at Addinglon yesterday and was given slow work to-day. He is in Brent fettle and he will, have a lot of Bupport for his Dominion Handicap engagement. W. J. Tomkinson has two horses, Western Voyage and John Mauritius, engaged in the Dominion Handicap, but up to the present he is undecided as to which horse he will drive and who will drive the second string. HALF-BROTHER TO PINK COAT.

Tama Waiata, winner of the Maiden HiiVulicap at the I'overty Bny meeting last Saturday, ia im iiged gelding by Cynic from Ke ( ] Edna, and therefore ranks as a halfbrother to the good performer Fink Coat. Lust season Tunm Wuiatii contested sis events, and, although he failed to win a race, he finished second on two oceaeiofis. Ha is now in hia eighth year, and tharefore ia at an ago when improvement can hardly bo expected.
