The Maryland Academy of Sciences, which was founded in 1797, and which is the oldest body of its kind in the United States, lias conferred upon the Prime Minister, Mr. MacPonald, honorary membership of the academy, in recognition of his services to the cause of peace. SECOND DAUGHTER ENGAGED. DOCTOR IN EDINBURGH. (Received September 1-1, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Sept. 13. A marriage has been arranged between Dr. Alistair MacKinnon, of Edinburgh, son of the late Dr. John MacKinnon, of South Africa and Skve, and Miss Joan Margaret Mac Donald, second daughter of the Prime Minister. Dr. MacKinnon's mother lives in Edinburgh.
