Hunt, S.M., dismissed a cliargo of forging a Public Works Department money-order for £7 7s lOd, preferred jointly against Sarah Jane Brown (Mr. Singer) and Philip MeShane (.Mr. Kcrruish), in the Police Court yesterday. Acording to the evidence of the police MeShane othained work with the department and signed an order for half of his wages to be forwarded to the address of the other accused. The order was signed in favour of "M. MeShane" and the accused Brown had cashed the money-order in that name. In obtaining las position with the department, MeShane had obtained preference over other single men by saying he had t+iree dependants. In dismissing the charge, the magistrate said ho did not see any purpose in allowing it. to proceed to the Supreme Court. it was right that such cases should be investigated, but this had now been done. There was no evidence of any collusion between the parties to defraud. The woman had merely acted as Mr/Shane's agent and had drawn the money.
