FAILURE TO ACCOUNT.

CHARGES AGAINST SALESMAN

Eleven charges of failing to account for money to the Advanx Ty-Re-Pair Company and one of stealing a tyre from tho same firm, were admitted bv Alfred Joseph Taylor, aged 23, salesman (Mr. Singer), in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. F. lv. Hunt, S..M. Chief-Detei ive Hammond said the sum involved was £l4 ss, but the total defalcations would amount to about .1120. Accused had been working for the cmnpaiiv and had failed to account for moneys collected between June and August. lie stole a tyre and gave it to his brother. Mr. Singer said accused's father was willing to make restitution. It was proposed to send him in a farm and for this reason a term of probation was asked for. " It is too simple for these people to be treated leniently," said the magistrate.

Found by a constable asleep in nn unoccupied house in (!rev's Avenue early yesterday morning, Michael McMahon, aged 58. labouier, was charged with being unlawfully on enclosed promises. .Sentence was deferred.
