PRESENCE OF OIL.
THE MOTUROA BORE. SEQUEL TO GAS BLOW-OUT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday. Following several blow-outs of inflammable gas, the latest occurring yesterday, number one boro of the Motuioa Oilfields Company was the sceno of a good show of oil this afternoon. It was the first real indication of the presence of oil obtained since t lie present boring activity at Moturoa started. Drillers at the boro this afternoon were busy circulating liquid mud to stop the (low of gas from the bore, which is at a depth of 2122 ft. Suddenly it was noticed that tho mud oil. rot urn t p the surface was carrying oil and tho nuut was then drained off. The oil rose to the_ top in a thick scum. The pressure of gas then died away. If the gas does not blow out again the cementing of the joints of the casing will be carried on and boring will not be resumed for two weeks.
