WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

OPOTIKI. Tlio members of tho Opotiki Instituto cclobrated tho second anniversary of its existence recently. Out of a total membership of 95 there wero present 85 members, and during tho business part of the gathering soveral now ones were elected. At tho conclusion of tho business a banquet, presided over by Mrs. Main, was held. After, tho roll call of quotations from Kipling, Mrs. Main cut tho birthday cako. Hostesses for tho evening were Mesdamcs Hughes, Pennell, Fisher, Jeffery, and Miss Lambert. Musical items were given by Mesdames Kirkbride, Fisher, Burke and Miss Kelly, also a group song by Mesdames Wolfcnden, Hughes, Burke, Humbly and Fisher. The toast list was as follows: "Tho King," proposed by Mrs. Main; "Tho Chief Organiser," Mrs. J. Wilson; "Sister Institutes," Mrs. A. Neilson; "Demonstrators and Lecturers."Mrs. Short; " Tho Entertainers," Mrs. Burrett; " 3Nfr. Merry," Mrs. Fox; " The Press," Mrs. Kemp; " Tho President," Mrs. Davies.
