OPERATIC SOCIETY.

SOCIAL EVENING HELD. Musical items and dancing were thoroughly enjoyed at a social evening held by thq members of the Audi J and Amateur Operatic Society in the society's hall, Grafton Road, last evening. Contributing to the programme with songs were Miss Vida Nelson, Miss Warren, Mr. W. 11. Johnston, and Mr. E. Snell, and humorous items were given by Mr. Dan Flood. An amusing sketch, entitled "The Bathroom Door," was given by Mrs. A. J. Prentice, Miss Dorpcn D'Authrcau, Miss ITopo Ashor, Mr. L. Keven, Mr. J. Gordon and Mr. A. J. Prentice. For tlio dancing excellent' music was provided by Birtloy's orchestra. Among thoso present were: Mrs. Tt. Sawoi's. who wore a frock of floral chiffon; Mrs. R. A. Singer, in black chiffon relieved with silver; Mrs. G. G. Lyttleton black taffeta and ring velvet; Mrs. J. Snell, vieux rose taffeta and ecru laco; Mrs. W.
