POLITICAL MEETING.

WOMEN'S UNITED LEAGUE. The United Party's Auckland Women's League held its monthly meeting at the league's rooms in Swan;,on Street on Tuesday night. Mrs. Von Sturmer presided. The speakers during the evening were Miss Wilson, Mrs. Ruby Watson, Mrs. Molesworth and Mrs. Simmonds.

A resolution passed by the meeting and brought forward by the Parnell division was in favour of women being taxed to assist, and also being allowed to share in the benefits of unemployment insurance. The Eden division also brought forward a resolution In which was pointed out tho necessity of prolonging widows' pensions for a further year, where, through the compulsory raising of the school age, the widow is forced to support her child for a further twelve months.

Other matters discussed were Dpen markets and the need of appointing a woman to act as co-censor with the maJo censor already employed by the Government.
