IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

FAREWELL TO MR, FORBES* DECISION AT WELLINGTON. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. .At a special meeting of tho Wellington City Council to-day it was decided that a civic farewell should be accorded to- tho Prime Minister, Hon. G. W. Forbes, when he leaves for tho Imperial Con« ference. Tho Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup, said that as Wellington was the capital city it was fitting that Mr. Forbes should bq tendered the city's good wishes. The farewell would bo of a particularly nonpolitical character. The speakers would be the Leader of the Opposition, Right' Hon. J. G. Coates, the Leader of tl)9 Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, and the Mayor of Wellington. The council fully supported the pr<£ posal and it "was decided that the function should take place on the afternoon of August 23. Mr. Forbes will sail on August 26.
