Awapuni missed the snow experienced in the surrounding districts during the past few days and the tracks were in wonderful order this morning:, even tho plough being fit for use. Except in one inntanco nil the fr.st work was conducted on the trial grass, which was fast. There is every indication that the course proper will he firm for the opening of the Manawatu Winter Meeting on Thursday. Gran Clmco and Calamart were the first to work, the pair running six furlongs tn tho trial grass in 1.21 1-3. Mister Gamp had n shade the better of Archeria, with Poppy Day beaten off at tho close of n mile, the last seven furlongs taking 1.35 2-5. Glenrossie, who had an advantage in the weights, was a neck in front of Evening Hero at the end of seven furlongs run in 1.3 G. Llyn Du was going better than CornerofT, with Magio Land three lengths back, at the end of seven furlongs in 1.33 1-5. Otuiri was going nicely at tho close of five furlongs m company with Desert Lad. to whom lio was conceding weight. The time was 1.5 1-5. Skyrider and Malahat were together, with Brilliant Light a length and n-half away, at the end of a mile in 1.47 3-5. The first half wii3 run in 54 l-ss. Braggart and Prince Moutoa were together after recording a good performances by running five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. Robbie's Mistake was a shade in front of ITymcitrason nt the entf of a mile in 1.45 3-5, the first half taking 525. Robbie's Mistake had the inside running throughout. AVar Zone jumped nway smarter than Kilorell, but the pair wore together at tho end of seven furlongs, tho last six taking 1.20 2-3. Sporting Chance got a break on Great Lady at the start of a five-furlong gallop and was never caught, completing tho tusk in I.G 2-5. Blue Paper jumped off ahead of Moutoa Treasury to lend into the straight. Moutoa Treasury then drew alongside to beat her companion home in 1.17 2-5 for six furlongs. It was .1 good gallop. Airforce left seven furlongs behind in 1.25, going within himself. Coon Song ran home from the five-fur-long post in 1.4. The Hunting Song gelding moved attractively. Potoaform was the only one to gallop on the plough and it took him 1.10 to negotiate five furlongs. Master Lu, who is the only visitor to hand, did two strong rounds on No, 1 grass.

Ruby Dawn and Paddon, who arc engaged at the Manawatu "Winter Meeting at Aw;\puni on Thursday and Saturday, left for Palmcrston Xorth by train this evening. Red Day and Ruby Dawn are under the care of their trainer. ,T F. Tutchen, while Paddon is in charge of his owner, Mr. G. Seifert. Paddon is to bo ridden in his engagements by F. Foster, SOUTH AUCKLAND HOUSES. THE SEASON'S SUCCESSES. GOOD RECORD FOR CAMBRIDGE. Cambridge owners, notably Mr. R. Hannon, have figured prominently as fetakewinners for many years now, and this season they have again accounted for a fair proportion of the South Auckland successes, having a tally of 25 firsts, 23 seconds and 10 thirds, with stakes totalling €7310.
