GOLD WORTH £3OO.
AN AGED MAN'S FIND. • FOUND IN A HOLLOW LOG. Three inguts of gold, weighing 75J0z., and estimated to be worth £3OO, were found recently in a hollow log in a wood heap in the backyard of Mr. John Dundas. aged 70, of Wembley Park, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The log in which the gold was found was taken out of tho ground in September, and had stood there for years, probably before the house was built on the block, which is in a comparatively new district.
Mr. Dundas took the gold to the police, who have lodged it at the mint for safe custody for three months awaiting a claimant, and if, at the end of that period, no claimant appears, it will be returned to tho finder. Detectives say they think that the gold was stolen years ago and secreted in the stump by the thief.
