The weather in tho district is appalling, it having rained continuously for 48 hours, and it may have boon impossible for the searchers to send back news. Streams have swollen into torrents and are impassable. Tho official says he thinks Mr. Hook may have died of pneumonia and that the search parties are not hurrying back through such terrible weather. On tho other hand, it may be that Mr. Hook is alive and is being cared for by the searchers at some remote village
