NO PLAY AT EDINBURGH. ABANDONMENT OF MATCH. (Received July 39, 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 18. There was no play in the cricket match Australia v. Scotland at Edinburgh yesterday owing to rain. This morning the pitch was found to be saturated, and the game was abandoned. The Australian cricketers to-day and on Monday will play a match against a team representing tlie West of Scotland at Glasgow. GENTLEMEN V. PLAYERS. PROGRESS OF THE MATCH. LONDON. July 17. In the cricket match Gentlemen v. Players the Gentlemen in their first innings made 292 runs. Leyland took seven wickets for 94; Gearv, one'for 36; Freeman, two for 124. The ['layers in their first, innings have made 225 for six wickets (Sutchffo 80, llobbs 35, Leyland not out 37).
