MAN RESISTS ARREST. MAGISTRATE IMPOSES FINE. A fine of £5. in default 14 days' imprisonment. was imposed on Thomas Tannine Marchbank, aged 40. painter, who appeared in the Police Court, yesterday befoYe Mr. F. K. Hunt, S. IST., on a charge of resisting a constable in the execution of his duty, lie was also charged with lining disorderly while drunk and wilfully damaging a shako valued at 15s 6d. Accused pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said that at about 6.30 on Thursday, Constable Chalmers was called to a hotel in Victoria Street, where accused was causing a disturbance. Accused became violent when lie was put out of the hotel, and hail to be handcuffed. During the struggle the constable's shako was knocked off and damaged beyond repair Accused had a long list of previous convictions. Accused was ordered to make good the damage on the charge of damaging Iho shako, and was convicted and discharged on the charge of being disorderly while drunk.
