HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL.

The annual meeting of the Hamilton High School Board of Governors was held in Hamilton to-day, the chairman, Mr G B. MacDiamid, presiding. The chairman, in his annual report, stated that the number of scholars on the roll at March 31 was 48-1, of whom 216 were boys and 238 girls. This number was 50 in excess of that at the beginning of 1929. Owing to the increased attendance at the beginning of this year 1 lie school had been advanced two grades in the departmental classification, which entitled it to two additional teachers. There were 42 girls in residence at tho girls' hostel, which had proved a success. The school building had become somewhat overcrowded, and increased accommodation was necessary. Mr. 0. B. MacDiamid was re-elected chairman of the board for tho tenth year in succession. A letter was received from the Old Boys' Association, drawing attention to the board's proposal to shelve in the meantime the matter of building swim ming baths at the school, and staling that the sum of £IOO, which the association had promised toward their erection, would probably be available in two months' time. After discussion, it decided to defer the matter until the icxt monthly meeting, to enable the cost of maintenance to Bo determined.
