THE GREAT SOUTH ROAD.
Sir, —It must be- obvious to most readers that tho attitude of the Franklin County Council toward the Great South Road proposals is dictated solely by * desire to have constructed first the road to Pokeno through Pukekohe before consenting to the Highway Board's scheme. This "is purely a matter for the ratp« pavers of the district,, but what are* motorists who daily, use tho Razorback; are directly concerned with is tho upkeep of that section referred to by Mr. Wvryard in your issue of Saturday last. There is danger to life arid limb in it* present condition, and it is to be hopetf that the Highways Board will insist ou ihe expenditure of £7OO per mile in upkeep, or whatever amount is deemed necessary. Jt wouid seem as it tha Great South Road is never to be a complete link. Bene Zine.
