CAPTAIN CAMPBELL'S INTEREST.

Interest in New Zealand beaches as likelv places for attaining record motorcar speeds was shown by Captain Malcolm Campbell, the famous racing motorist, in a. conversation with Mr. Duncan F. Bauchop, general manager in New Zealand of Leyland Motors, Limited, who has returned from a business visit to England. The dav before leaving London, Mr. Bauchop bad a very interesting meeting with Captain Campbell, who was very interested in what he had been previously toid of New Zealand beaches from the point of view of reaching a speed of approximately 250 miles per hour. Word had just been received that Mr. Kave Don had been unsuccessful in finding suitable beach conditions at Daytotia. United States of America, and Captain Campbell was thus able definitely to decide as to the type of machine required. It was arranged that certain information should bo obtained and sent to Captain Campbell at an early date, and if this is satisfactory, Mr. Bauchop states that there is every possibility that he will build a successor to his famous Blue Bird and bring it to New Zealand in an attempt to beat the late Sir Henry Segrave's record.
