"JOY RIDES" OPPOSED.

POWER BOARD CONFERENCE. DELEGATES FROM WAITEMATA. "These excursions are more or less •joy rides,' " said Mr. W. B. Darlow when the matter of sending delegates to the annua! conference of power boards in Wellington was discussed at a meeting of the Waitemata, Electric-Power Board yesterday. It was proposed that the chairman. Mr. G. Trevithick, two members, tlie secretary. Mr. A. Mam, and the encineer, Mr. F. J. H. Wilson, should be aDpoinied delegates. * Mr. Darlow said it cost- £iS to send a delegate to tho conference. Apart from the secretary and engineer, only one delegate was needed- 'lhe benefit derived from the conference would net warrant the expenditure of another £3O in sending two other members of the board. In view of the present position at Arapuni the board should conserve every penny. Ha moved an amendment that only the chairman, the secretary and the engineer should attend the conference. The amendment was carried, a subsequent amendment by Mr. S. E. Kennings that another member of the board should be included in the delegates, being lost by a large majority.
