OLD CLOTHES DRIVE.

APPEAL BY TRAVELLERS.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC.

In order to assist the members of the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association who are making a cash and old clothes drive on Saturday to help necessitous cases in the city and suburbs, representatives of various charitable institutions have written to the Heeald suggesting ways and means by which the public can best help the travellers in their work.

Sister Hannah, Sister Esther, Major Gordon, the Rev. Jasper Calder, the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour and the Rev. G. E. Moreton state that as social workers they can never adequately thank the travellers' organisation for its wonderful assistance and make the following suggestions to facilitate both the work of collecting by tlio travellers and the subsequent distribution by the various social workers:— That donations of clothing should be packed in parcels strongly tied or in sugar bags; that boots or shoes should be tied together in pairs, otherwise a truck load of footwear will be wasted; that garments that are absolutely useless should not be sent; and that parcels and cash should be ready at 8 a.m.

It has been decided by the workers that the clothing from the drive cannot possibly be sorted for distribution for some days, perhaps for a fortnight, after the drive. The hope is also expressed that the public will give the effort wholehearted support.
