TE AWAMUTU DANCE.
In f-pitfl of very wet weather, the annua] fancy dress dance promoted by St. Joseph's Convent attracted a very .arge attendance at the Town Hall, To Awarnutu, cn Friday night. It was the event of the year for local children, and the large number of remarkable costumes, the effective grand march, and the special dances were great attractions. The prizes were awarded as follows: Most orignial: Senior boy, "Absent mmded", girl, "Wisteria"; junior boy. "Returned Soldier Farmer"; girl, "Amy Johnson." Best fancy dress: Senior boy, "Beau Brammei"; girl, "Court Jester"; junior boy, "Pirate of Spanish Main"; girl, "Carnival." Best couple: Sensors, '"Black and White Pierrots": juniors, "E.ed and Yellow Pierrots." Best set of lancers: "Beau ErummeiV No. 2 set Tiny tots: "Doll in a Bos," "Princess Charming," "Shepherdess," "Little Bandsman." "Petrol Tax.'" "Nagger Boy." "Harem Princess." Special awards Seniors, Zoe Noonan; juniors, Ursula McCrory.
