AUSTRALIAN TARIFF.
INCREASE IN DUTIES. FURTHER LIST PROPOSED. CANBERRA, June 20. A motion to amend the tariff schedule was tabled in the House of Representatives to-day by (he Acting Minister for Customs, Mr. F. M. Fordo The schedule, which embodies the alterations made in April, seeks to impose incieased duties on 114 items and to reduce the duties on eight. The most important articles affected by the increased rates are timber, machinery and motor-car chassis.
