Eighfc eggs, 120z.... sugar (one and aquaiter cups), two large cups half pound butter, .two' teaspoons baking pOwder, half a cup of milk, 2oz. candied peel, grated rind of lemon, pinch of salt. Beat butter and sugar to a cream, add yolks well beaten, then milk; mix baking, powder and salt witsh flour add gradually, also candied peel cut fine, lastly stir in "quickly tho stiffly whisked whites of eggs; bake iii' a T moderate oven for one and a-quarler hours.
