Tho gradual increase in output and decrease! in manufacturing costs of the Morrinsville Co-operative Dairy Company was commented on by the chairman of directors, Mr. J. B. Leeson, and the. manager, Mr. A. M. Sterling, in addresses to suppliers of I lie company at Morrinsvillc. Since tho company commenced operations in 1923 the output has increased from 260 tons to nearly 1600 tons, while the costs per ton have decreased from £22 10s to £l2 17s sd. "It has always been the policy of our directors to make as large an advance payment as possible, with prudence," said Mr. Leeson. "However, for March ive have had to make a low advance, in fact, the lowest wo have inado in the history of the company." They had already advanced Is od on tho January butter, which was realising only Is Id, so they had no option but to reduce the advance on March supplies to prevent the possibility of having to inako a reclamation later on. The directors were considering the advisability of levelling tho payments for the last three months of the season, so as to rrrtl/.o .something liko a regular payment for the whole of the year. Notwithstanding the recent low advances, tho average pay-cat for the whole season was Is 32d. Mr. Stcrlihg said the factory had 92 per cent, of its butter graded finest, 8 per cent, first, and not, a single box second. Tho Dominion figures were 68 per cent, finest. lie estimated that the company would save an additional £7OO next year by a change in butter-box manufacture, although New Zealand timber would still be used. ■

On Mny 20 tho Cambridge Dairy Company will advance for its April supply £16,250, compared with £14,250 for April last year. The basis of payment will be ,1s 3d per lb. butter-fat for cheese and lid for butter. For the ten months of tlie season to the end of April the company advanced a total of £254,210, compared wlth» £232,000 for the same period last year,' an increase of £22.210. »For April the supply of butter.-fat showed a 25 per cent, increase compared with April, 1929.

DECREASE IN, PAYMENTS.

WAIROA CO OPERATIVE

For the first time since the 1924-25 season the total pay-out of the Northern Wairoa Co-operative Dairy Company for the month and the season to date shows a decrease. This is accounted for by the drop in the advance from Is 5d to lOd. However,, the directors aro hopeful that recent sides and those until the end of the month will enable them to finish the season round about the average of 1926-27, when it .was Is 2.58 d.

Large increases in the volume of butterfat supplied for April and in the aggregate payments to suppliers are indicated by the figures of the Ruawai Dairy Company, compared with the figures for April, 1929. This position obtains in spite of the fact that the payment for April, 1929, was at the rate of Is per lb., 2d above the rato for last month. The company will pay for 121,2701b. of butter-fat a sum of £6096. Last season the amount was £5621, for 79,4031b. The payment will raise the amount paid for tho expired portion of the season to £98,067, for 1.532,5401b. For the corresponding period last season £90,981 was paid for 1,276.5611b.
