BRITISH MOTORS URGED
» USE IN MILKING MACHINES.
SUPPLY BY POWER BOARD.
FOREIGN MAKES INSTALLED.
fny TELEGRAPH.— OWN COT?RESPONDENT.] MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday.
The .statement that the Thames Valloy Power Board was installing Swedish and American electric motors in farmers' milking sheds was made at the. meeting of the Morrinsville Farmers' Union. Mr. F. G. Kennedy, of Starkey's Road, which has just been reticujated, complained th;it Iho board . was installing foreign motors, and ho thought farmers, who had always advocated trade within the Empire, should insist on British motors. lie had not specified any sort of motor when ho signed a request for power, but he asked for the best. The board's men brought along a Swedish and an American motor, and he fold them to take them awav.
Mr. J. M. Allen, a member of the Power Board, said that if the board used more expensive British machinery in every case it would have complaints from farmers about the unnecessary expense, Mr. A. Tapham supported Mr. Kennedy's suggestion that farmers should insist on British motors. He recalled that when power was installed in his shed he had asked for a British motor, but a Belgian one had been put in while lie was away, and he assured members that it was "a dud." lie said the Belgian motor had been removed, and an English one installed four years ago, and this had given no further-trouble. Several members quoted cases c' Belgian and other foreign motors which gave satisfaction, but Mr. Kennedy said he was not questioning the efficiency of foreign motors, lie merely wished to have preference for British machines.,
