TROTTING.

FOKBUEY PARK NOTES.

YOUNG TROTTERS DO WELL.

SUCCESS OF M. HOLMES.

[PA' TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCri URCH, Tuesday.

Although' White Satin won the Now Zenland Sires Produce Stakes very easily, the displays of R. Townley's pair Kilbirnie Dan and Lough Guy at the Forbury Paj'k meeting did not suggest that they were below tho average merit of three-year-old trotters. In the Produce Stakes both were slow to begin, while White Satin started'very smartly. The result was a big lend for White Satin in tho first quarter-mile. Once settled to their work tho pair performed in veiy attractive style and their racing in the Tahuna Handicap on the second day of the meeting was full of promise. Young trotters were much, in evidence at tho Forbury Park meeting, for besides the outstanding displays of the two-year-old Todd Lonzia and the three-year-old White Satin, four-year-olds filled the places in both the mile and a-ha!f trotting events. In the Bayfield Handicap Fifa, Hydro and Ambition were first, second and third respectively, while in the Tahuna Handicap Stand By, Ambition and Fifa filled tho j.laces. All are promising young trotters, who will do still better later on.

The most popular free lance rider and driver in New Zealand at present is tho young Riccarton horseman, M. Holmes, who rode or drovo on 10 occasions at the' Forbury Park meeting. Hia riding and driving fees alone amounted to JM3.
