STEAMER CAMBRIDGE.
REPAIRS TO PROPELLER.
VESSEL TO GO INTO DOCK
The Federal Line steamer Cambridge is to go into dock this morning for repairs to one of her propellers. The vessel arrived at Auckland from Liverpool last Thursday, and has since unloaded a large quantity of general merchandise for this port. When she was in the Pacific on April 25 a blade was lost from tho propeller, but being a twin screw vessel she was not delayed to any extent on the voyage. A spare blade, which is carried on board, jvill be fitted to the propeller to-day, and after the work has been completed the vessel will resume hor voyage to Wellington, Lyttelton, Tirnaru and Port Chalmers to complete discharge The Cambridge is the third steamer' that has reached Auckland this year from an overseas port after having lost a propeller blade in the Pacific. Tho Canadian National steamer Canadian Highlander arrived from Halifax on January 13, having lost a blade from her propuller on I'oxinp: Day whim she was in tho Pacific and 3500 miles from Auckland. Having only one propeller she bad to proceed at reduced speed after the accident to ease the strain on the remaining blades. The accident delayed her arrival by about three days. When about 18 miles from Pilcairn Island or: route from New York to Auckland, the Ellerman Hall Line steamer City of Lincoln lost a blade from her propeller on March 25, having also been delayed by about three days by tho am dent.
