Three fiuo contests in the Auckland Water Polo Control Board's competition were played ul tlio Tepid Baths last evenins before a fair attendance of spectators. Greatly improved form was shown by Grammar, , which defeated Parnoll by 'three goals' to one after a- linrd-fought i;ame. Chief interest centred in the game between the two leading teams, Waitemata A nnd 'Ponsonby A, the former winning by three goals to one. In its game against Ponsonby B, Philomel hold nn advantage of two goal's at half-time. Ponsonby played an improved game irt the second spell, and there was n« further scoro.' Following .are the results:— • Grammar, v. Parnoll.—Even, play marked tho opening stages and tho players took some time to settlo down. Play swung toGrammar's goal am and Wilson opened the scoring for Pnrncll. Tho speedy Grammar forwards were set in ' motion. nnd a fine passing movement culminated in Brulson equalising. The spell ended with no further score. On resuming play was confined to mid-field. Tho Grammar forwards again broke -away and Bassott nettod' to place his team in the lead, Just before timo wns called Farrell scored, for Grammar. Tho' ftaroo ended Oftuttiniuy B;'Parriell. 1. Mr. G. Thorpe wps referee.. Ponsonby A v, Waitomata' A.—Waitenmta was tho first to attack nnd from a meloe in front of Ponsonhy's goal Lindsay netted.' Waitemata's next ponl was notched by Knwriglit, who from mid-field sent in a lightning backhand drive which gavo the goalkeeper no chance. The score' at halftime was: Waitcmata, 2 goals; Ponsonby.. 0. Immediately on resuming En w right gained possession and scored ; another fine goal from the half-way. line. A few minutes before time Brooking figured in a solo effort, and. beating several players, netted Ponsonby's only goal. Tho game ended:—Waitemata A, 3 goals; Ponsonby A, *l. Mr. C. Pa t ton was referee. Ponsonby B v. Philomel.—-After p_lny had been in progress for some timo Kirklnnd scored for Philomel and _ before the spell ended Simpson raised this team's score by another point. In the second half Ponsonby played much better and hold tho upper hand, but there was no further scoro. The ■final scoro wns:—-Philomel, 2 goals: Ponsonby B. 1. Mr. L. Brighton was referee.
