OUTER-SUBURBAN TOURNEY.
RAIN CAUSES POSTPONEMENT.
Owing to rain or. Saturday morning malcin" the Stanley Street courts unplayable matches in the Outer-Suburban C grade championship tournament were postponed. Two matches, however, were played at Campbell Park on hard courts, Miss James beatin;? Miss Harle Giles, o—2, G— 3, in the third round and then defeating Miss M. Waters, 6—2. 6—2. In the men's singles J. N. Wilson meets the winner of R. Teal and A. E. B. Chcal, and in the ladies' singles Miss James meets the winner of Miss D. Bryant and Miss I. Solomon. Four pairs are left in the men s doubles, E. Hickson and G. R. Tutt meeting C. R. Plant and J. Stephens in ono semi-final, and Y. Barfoot, and McElroy playing J. H. A. Wood and Tonson in the other. In the ladies' doubles tho winners of Misse3 H. Mackie and James and Misses Cutforth and Waters meet Misses Harle Giles and Thomson in the final. The combined doubles are not so advanced, the semi-final stages not having been reached.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION
GRADE B. In an Auckland Association B grade inter-club match Campbell Park defeated Unity by nine matches to one. Detailed results am as follow, Campbell Park players being mentioned first in each instance:—Men's singles: A. Porter beat W. Turei, G—2, 6—2; Rostgard beat P. Turei, G—4, 6—5. Ladies' singles: Miss Rukutui beat Miss O'Donnell, 5 —6, (3—5, 6 —4; Miss Bull lost to Miss Young, 5—6, 6—3, 3—6. Men's doubles: Porter and Rostgard beat Turei and Turei, 6—o, &—2; Rukutai and Winger beat A. Potter and Hawkins. 6- 3. 6—l. Ladies' doubles: Mrs. Worsop and Miss Leng beat Miss Gemmell and Miss Smith, 6—4, 6—2; Misses Rukutai and Bull beat Misses O'Donnell and Young. 5—6, 6 —4, &—5. Combined doubles: Rukutai and Miss Leng beat Potter and Miss Gemmell, (>—3, 6—3; Winger and Mrs. Worsop beat Hawkins and Miss Smith, 6—o, G—s.
