AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

PLAY ON SOH' WICKETS. parnell increases lead. The first series of matches in (he seroml found of tho Auckland ■ Cricket Association's senior competition was concluded on Saturday, Parnell the leading team, on account of a four-point win, increasing its lead to four points. Rain during Saturday morning made tho wickets very soft, and the principal match, between University anil Eden, did not commence until after three o'clock. Owing to the slow outfields and wickets slow scoring resulted. University managed to make a draw of tho game against Eden, which compiled 223 on tho first day. At stumps University had lost nine wickets for 154 runs, gmeeton (42) being the principal scorer. Ponsonby again failed against the Parnell pttaek and was defeated by an innings. [Wensley took five wickets for 44 runs. United Suburbs' just failed by four runs 5n a splendid effort to pass Y.M.C.A.'s first innings scoro of 223. lverr (55) and Martin (68 not out) gavo very sound exhibitions. Elliott took seven wickets for f?7 runs. North Shore notched its second (win this season by defeating Grafton by an innings.
