WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

WARKWORTH. This month the Warkworth Women's Institute completed their first year and celebrated the occasion on Thursday evening in the Oddfellows' Hall by having a birthday party. Items were given by Miss Smytheman, Messrs. Dow, Smytheman and Verry,_ all of which were encored. Competitions and games followed. The hall and tables were decorated with Iceland poppies, and on the centre table was an iced birthday cake with one candle. The Rev. F. D. Hart outlined the aims and objects of the institute. The president, on behalf of the members, thanked Mr. Hart fo£ his address after which she lit the candle and cut the cake. The singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant evening to a close.
