THREE LEFT IN THE FIELD.

Mr. H. D. Bennett, Independent candidate for the Hutt by-election, who is on a week-end visit to Wanganai, announced to-day that he would retire from the contest.
The three candidates left in the field are:—Messrs. James Kerr (Government), Harold F. Johnston (Reform), and .Walter Nash (Labour).
