CHILDREN ENTERTAINED.
OUTING IN THE COUNTRY.
CITY PUPILS AT PUKEKOHE
A happy day was spent on Saturday by over 190 pupils of the Curran Street school, Ponsonby, who, together with teachers and a number of parents, were the guests of tho Pukekohe school and members of tho Franklin agency of the Auckland Automobile Association in an outing to tho country. The party, numbering over 200, left the city by tho early train, arriving at Pukekohe just before 9 a.m. Morning tea was taken at the Pukekoho school, and tho visitors were then the guests of members of tho Automobile Association on motor runs to various parts of the district. Somo made a trip to Tuakau, others Bombay, some to the top of Pukekoho Hill, some went toward Mauku, and some in other directions. No matter in what direction, all were treated to the sight of a verdant rural district at its best appearance in the flush of a bountiful season.
After luncheon at the Pukekohe school at noon, games between teams representing tho two schools provided excitement and interest.
The party bade their hosts farewell at 2.30 p.m. and returned to Auckland by the Rotorua express. The outing was greatly enjoyed and served an educational purpose in acquainting city children with country conditions.
