LIQUOR IN KING COUNTRY.
Sir,—Since my purpose in protesting against the proposecUgranting of a liquor licence to the Chateau Tcngariro has been fulfilled by the assurance-that no such licence is contemplated, there is notiiiog in the letter by "J.W." calling for reply. The fact that the Akarana Native Association also protested against the suggested licence proved that they- were alive to the peril and eager to avert it. On the general question of liquor legislation "J.W." and I are poles apart, and as neither is likely to convince the other further correspondence is unnecessary. H. H. Driver.
