A curious story, to tho effect that two young women of Glasgow, both 26 years of age, went through a marriago ceremony in order that they should not be separated, was told at the Greenock Police Court. As a result, one of tho women concerned, Mary Brown, was sent to prison for 40 days for making a false declaration.
Dressed as a man Brown induced a priest to perform the ceremony in 1926. Thereafter tho two young women lived together in Ireland. Brown reassumcd female attire, but worked to support tho other girl. The magistrate described this remarkablo case as the most difficult otio ho had been called upon to dcculo.
